Mike Hosey starred with bat and ball for Belvedere in their four-wicket victory over Peasedown St John,
An excellent all-round performance from Mike Hosey saw Belvedere secure a four-wicket victory at Peasedown St John.
Asked to bat, the home side made a steady start adding 26 for the first wicket until Sam Mccrea bowled D Lock. Paul Davis was rewarded for his usual tidy spell dismissing M Lock held at mid-on by Brian Hosey. Martin soon followed again held by Hosey off the bowling of Jack Neville.
A run out and a wicket for Neil Chadwick saw the hosts struggle to 86-5 off 25 overs. Saunders set about the attack hitting a quickfire 47 before he became the first of Mike Hosey’s four wickets in his return spell bowling with pace and bounce before Mccrea dismissed Joyce to dismiss Peasedown for 171 in the 41st over.
Hosey finished with (7-0-36-4), Mccrea (8.1-2-38-2), Davis (9-1-27-1), Chadwick (7-2-29-1) and Neville (9-1-39-1) in an excellent bowling performance.
Belvedere openers Mike Hosey and Mccrea added 36 for the first wicket before Mccrea was caught. Callum Ham followed without scoring and while Hosey was scoring freely at the other end, Belvedere lost Chadwick (9) and Sam Neate (7) to leave their side at 84-4.
Andy Platts came to the wicket and scored 17 before being bowled by Farell at 117-5. Any concerns of a collapse were ended by Hosey and Pete Hooper with a vital partnership of 49, before Hooper fell for 20 with only six needed for victory.
Fittingly, Hosey scored the winning runs to finish undefeated on 81 (14 fours) in an excellent, chanceless innings to bring up victory with eight overs remaining.
All Stars man of the match was Mike Hosey.
