Uphill Castle fell short by 157 runs in their latest league match away at Minehead.

Uphill Castle travelled to Minehead with several players unavailable and returned with a 157-run defeat.

Uphill won the toss and had no hesitation in asking Minehead to bat first, especially with heavy rain forecast, but play continued and the hosts got off to a fine start.

George Fox came on to bowl and claimed a wicket straight away and with a couple of dropped catches, Minehead reached 157-3 off 32 overs when a heavy rain shower came down and the players had a early tea.

Minehead went back out and attacked the bowling and ended up with 265-7 off 45 overs, with the wickets going to Luke Bliss, George Cox and Marcus Bail (2-63), with Fox the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3-42.

Uphill went out to bat with Dayne Siede (37) and Luke Bliss (14) putting on 55 for the first wicket, but once Bliss went the rest of the innings collapsed, with only Brad Patch getting double figures and Uphill were dismissed for 107.

On Saturday, Uphill are home to Wembdon who are one place above them in which is a must-win game if they want to avoid relegation.

Autosmart man of match was George Fox.
