Rain-affected draw for Weston thirds

Weston thirds and Winscombe seconds shared the points in a rain-affected draw.

Weston third team managed to get the most game time of all four teams on a rain-affected weekend, sharing the points at home to Winscombe 2nd XI.

The home team lost the toss and were predictably asked to bat in the rain. They quickly lost the two openers with just five on the board, and were fearful of being bundled over for a low score.

Alex Leeks (75) and Fin Mayo (68 not out) had other ideas, and batted exceptionally well together, putting on a stand of 124 for the third wicket. An early tea was taken, and after several false starts, Weston finished their 40 overs on 189-5.

Due to the league regulations, the overs lost to rain were taken away from the team batting second, and this left Winscombe with just 17 overs to bat.

Weston started well with an early wicket for Georgia Tulip, but soon offered up some easy deliveries for the visitors to put away, as they finished on a quickfire 124-1.

Forte Financial man of the match was shared between Alex Leeks and Fin Mayo.
