WESTON 1st XI failed to capitalise on last week’s victory by being comfortably beaten away at Warminster.
Missing several key players, Weston won the toss and elected to bowl. Adam Davies removed opener Bond early, but Warminster’s Underdown and Hinkerton steadied the ship against some excellent bowling by Andrew Fear. They took the score to 103 before Underdown was trapped lbw by Ashley Allen on 48.
The Warminster innings continued steadily, but wickets fell regularly thanks to some excellent bowling by the Weston spinners, particularly Shabil Ahmed who ended with figures of 3-37 from his 10 overs. Warminster finished on 213-8 from their 50 overs.
The Weston innings began steadily and openers Fear and Gary Morgan looked comfortable. Fear was then dismissed and John Davidson went soon after. The Weston reply never got going and wickets tumbled and Weston found themselves languishing at 67-6.
At the other end, Morgan showed the correct application and looked comfortable but could only watch as Warminster took control of the game. Weston were dismissed for 89 in the 26th over with Morgan left stranded on 41 not out.
Intouch CRM man of the match was Gary Morgan.
