Seasiders comprehensively beaten

WESTON 1st XI were comprehensively beaten away at Chippenham, dismissing any remaining promotion hopes for this season.
Batting first, the home side made a solid start and had reached 66 before the loss of their first wicket. This brought Gloucestershire’s James Fuller to the crease who immediately stamped his authority with some crunching boundaries through the offside.
Opener Tom Young was batting well at the other end and reached his 50 with ease. The Weston spinners, Shabil Ahmed and Ashley Allen then came into the attack and brought Weston back into the game by removing both Fuller and Young.
However, Uzi Quereshi batted sensibly and once he had settled, he put Chippenham back in control of the game. He was eventually dismissed for 56 from 60 balls. The rest of the Chippenham batters all contributed and the innings finished on 260-9 from 50 overs.
The Weston reply started disastrously with Gary Morgan and John Williams being removed with the first two balls of innings.
Simon Green and Chris Davidson offered some resistance and managed to stabilise the innings with some excellent stroke play and it looked like Weston could still get something out of the game.
However, when the pair departed in quick succession, the writing was on the wall. This brought about a batting collapse the saw Weston go from 89-4 to 107 all out, including a hat-trick for Steve Silk, losing the game by 153 runs.
InTouch CRM man of the match went to Simon Green.
