Lympsham 2nd XI recorded back-to-back victories with success at home to Purnells.

Lympsham 2nd XI made it two wins in a row at home to Purnells 2nd XI.

Lympsham won the toss and decided to bowl. However, the visitors made a fast start and looked to be enjoying themselves until Nathan James had their opener caught by Dan Ward and Andy Russ trapped their skipper lbw during an impressive spell of bowling.

Wickets continued to fall, but Purnells also kept the scoring rate going until they were eventually all out for 190 in the last over. Russ was the pick of the bowlers, finishing on 2-12 from his seven overs, supported well by Simon Pilgrim (2-25).

In reply, Lympsham opener Andy Hall looked to repeat last week’s century alongside the returning Rich Drew, but Hall was clean bowled on 49, leaving Rod Simpson to enter the fray and hit a flurry of boundaries for his 40 before being stumped with the total in sight.

Star of the innings though was Rich Drew, who showed great composure to bat through the innings and see Lympsham home, finishing on 56 not out and he was awarded the Indian Massala man of the match award.
