Uphill Castle kept up their push for promotion with a victory over Taunton St Andrews.

Uphill Castle continued their push for promotion with a three-wicket home win over Taunton St Andrews.

Captain Andy Llewellyn put the visitors into bat and they quickly moved to 30-0 off five overs before Steve Philips joined the attack and removed both openers with figures of 2-9 and put Uphill back into the game.

With Castle’s fielding at their usual high standard, the rest of the innings folded quickly and St Andrews were all out for 116. The wickets went to Hone Milnes-Win (3-22), Marcus Bail (3-15), Kieran Ward (1-25) and Joe Gadd (1-23).

Going out to bat after tea and with a good sized crowd watching, Uphill got off to a poor start and wickets went down at regular intervals and at 45-5, things did not look good, but Jermain Jones (16) and Hone Milnes-Win (26 not out) batted sensibly and when Jones was dismissed with 20 needed for victory, Andy Llewellyn (14 not out) came in and finished the game in fine style with a straight six over the bowler’s head to finish the game and 33 points.

Autosmart man of the match was Hone Milnes-Win.
