UPHILL Castle 1sts visited Midsomer Norton and on losing the toss were inserted on a sporting pitch. The home side took advantage of the conditions by removing Pete Trego, Tom Moffat and Luke Bliss within the first 10 overs to leave Uphill in trouble at 12-3.However, skipper John Davidson (31 not out) led the fight-back with help from Ed Bliss (10) and Gareth Williams (15 not out), with Davidson looking particularly fluent with seven well struck boundaries. With the score at 70-4 after 20 overs, Uphill were hopeful of setting the home side a competitive target when a torrential downpour flooded the square and ended proceedings at 2pm.Despite the abandonment, Uphill climbed to third in the Bristol and Somerset division thanks to defeats for Claverham, Stapleton and Old Bristolians. Uphill will be looking to finish their season with two wins, at home to Old Bristolians and at Winscombe to secure a top three finish.
