WINSCOMBE secured their first win of the season with a 56-run win over previously unbeaten Knowle.Things however started badly at Knowle as after being asked to bat on a slow low wicket, Winscombe were quickly reduced to 20-4 and then 41-6 with only Ross Toohey with 15 getting into double figures early on.Then a superb partnership developed between Brad Loveluck and Benjamin Goodrum as they patiently built the innings despatching the bad balls they got for four as they put on 79 for the seventh wicket before Goodrum was leg before for 23.Loveluck then fell soon after for an invaluable 47. Neil Pollard again added some useful late runs, taking Winscombe over the 150 mark before he was last out for 13 as Winscombe finished on 152 all out.Winscombe got off to a great start with Iain Fraser bowling Long with his first ball. Fraser then continued to bowl the perfect line and length suited to the wicket and when Pollard joined the attack they in tandem never allowed the Knowle innings to gather momentum.Pollard bowled the dangerous Price but the prize wicket of Coombes came courtesy of a splendid catch by Steve Bawden off Fraser. It was left to Alan Hunt to come on and dismiss the last two batsmen to give Winscombe a much needed and deserved victory.Fraser finished with the superb figures of 6-24 from his 15 overs and was admirably backed up by Pollard 2-28 off 14 overs and Hunt 2-7. Ringway man of the match was shared by Iain Fraser and Brad Loveluck.
