Winscombe fail to upset unbeaten Midsomer Norton.
WINSCOMBE visited unbeaten Midsomer Norton and on winning the toss, asked the the home team to bat.
Winscombe’s opening attack bowled well and they were rewarded as Norton were quickly reduced to 36-3 with Chris Clough picking up two wickets and Jory Cureton the other.
Winscombe had further success with the score at 58 when the Harvey was run out for 30. Then Pang took the attack to Winscombe scoring 74 off 71 balls, while being supported well by the rest of his team as Norton finished on 198-9.
The Winscombe bowlers stuck to their task well with Clough (2-36) and Cureton (2-48) bowling well up front. They were well supported by Zain Patel (2-57) and Matt Lunn (1-26).
In reply, Winscombe lost Patel in the second over and from there Winscombe struggled to get going against accurate bowling on a wicket still offering help to the bowlers.
Winscombe struggled to 48-4 before Iain Fraser joined Paul Bird and these two set about rebuilding the innings. They had added 62 for the fifth wicket before Fraser was lbw to M Cox (5-35) for 29.
Bird followed with the score at 113 for a fine 51, which signalled the end of Winscombe’s chase, with only John Reeves (16) contributing, Winscombe were bowled out for 133 leaving them beaten by 65 runs.
