THE outdoor season ended at Clarence on Saturday with the traditional President’s Day, which, after the rain of previous days, was blessed with lovely weather.

Forty-eight members played a mixture of pairs and triples in fun matches, after which they and quite a few non-players sat down to an excellent tea, provided by the ladies’ clubs.

President Reg Flicker reviewed a successful season, during which Clarence A won the Somerset County League Division 1 North championship and the Blues reached the final of the Weston & District Over-60s League KO Cup.

Afterwards, the club trophies were presented by guests of honour Charles and Beverley Porter of the Beachlands Hotel, who sponsored all the competitions this year for the first time.
