CRUSADERS Under-9s had a dream come true on Wednesday when they were selected as mascots for four-times European champions Ajax when they played a friendly against Bristol City at Ashton Gate.

The lucky 11 were dressed in the famous white and red colours as worn by such legends as Cruyff, Bergkamp and Marco Van Basten. They walked out with the current crop of top internationals in front of an impressive crowd of over 10,000.

They then watched the classy outfit put four goals past a City who struggled to cope with the quality of a champions league side.

The Dutch champions now managed by ex-Spurs boss Martin Jol put on a training session the following evening for the whole Crusaders squad and posed for photos and signed autographs for the excited youngsters.

A big thank you goes to the Crusaders staff for making it happen and also to the team from Amsterdam, who have made some new friends in the Weston mini league.

THE first annual Weston AFC Junior Tournament proved to be a great success with over 60 teams from across Weston and the surrounding areas taking part in the first major tournament to be staged at the Woodspring Stadium.
