CLEVEDON Golf Club's finals had to be played over two weekends this year because a number of players were involved in more than one competition.

David Steele along with his wife Ruth competed in three finals and was successful on every occasion.

The Alun Rees 36-hole scratch event was won by current club champion Ashley Mansell, who eventually saw off a resilient Steve Lawrence.

Three up after the morning round, Ashley stormed ahead in the afternoon and quickly went five up with birdies on the first two holes but then faltered before finally securing victory on the 33rd green.
