FOLLOWING on from his success at the British Indoor Rowing Championships at the end of last year, Shaun Callaghan of Weston has now won gold at both the Welsh Championships in Cardiff and Scottish Championships in Edinburgh.

He narrowly missed out on a clean sweep of the home titles when winning bronze recently at the English Championships held at the Manchester Velodrome.

"This season has gone tremendously well and I would like to think I can get even faster."

Not content with the standard 2,000 metre race distance, Shaun also set a new British record for rowing 100,000 metres. Starting on New Year's Eve he rowed into the New Year with honours finishing his non-stop endurance session in 7 hours 19 minutes. The event was broadcast live on the web.

Shaun rows for the Steepholme Pirates club and competes in the M40-49L category. His final race for this winter season is at the Cornish Championships in Launceston on Sunday, March 7.

Shaun is sponsored by 1st Ace Cars and is grateful for their continuing support.
