OLY Janes from Weston, smashed his way to victory in the first race of the 2012 British Truck Racing Championship with his six tonne truck at Pembrey race track.
He took home two first place trophies, a fastest lap and a 21 points to lead the championship into Brands Hatch for round two this weekend.
It is then onto Germany to the Nurburgring on July 14/15, where Oly is determined to make it another double win.
Reflecting on his two wins, Oly said: “I can’t believe it. I was so calm and relaxed. I just concentrated on keeping the truck on the track.”
Oly would like to thank his team and family for all their help and would also like to extend a massive thank you to all his sponsors for their support.
Oly has been involved in trucks all his life being part of a family centred round the trucking industry. He started karting at the age of 10 and raced regularly for two years.
Although he has always been interested in truck racing, it was not until 2009 that he seriously thought about motorsport when he gained his racing licence. Oly decided to get serious about racing and threw himself in at the deep end and bought a race truck from Dave Ball, the 2009 BTRA class B champion.
In his first year, Oly was rewarded with two podium finishes and the high point of the year was winning the coveted BTRA rookie of the year award.
