WESTON Yacht Club enjoyed an excellent weekend for the annual regatta.

Following a big breakfast, once again provided by Arthur Jarret, 11 boats crossed the start line on Saturday and quickly completed the course. With the wind gusting to F5, the two big Class 1 boats, Kra and Sea Thrift raced ahead of the fleet.

At the finish, although Kra crossed the line first, Sea Thrift was close behind and won on handicap, with Lasten taking third place. In Class 2, Gunsmoke took the honours in front of Progress and Seascape.

The evening kicked off with a fantastic buffet provided by Pippa Harris and some good dancing and vocal entertainment.

Sunday also supplied excellent sailing conditions, and with more big breakfasts consumed, nine boats joined the contest, but Kra unable to take part due to a failure.

Again conditions suited Sea Thrift and she left the rest of the fleet in her wake once more. This time Dash 11 chased her home in Class 1, with Lasten once more gaining third place.

Although losing ground on the first windward leg, Gunsmoke led the Class 2 boats across the finishing line, closely followed by Seascape and Mandela. However, Seascape took first place on handicap.
