Conditions were not ideal for the open match on the Main Lake at Shiplate Farm.

HOT, sunny conditions may be on everyone’s wish list for a day at the beach, but these conditions were not ideal for the open match on the Main Lake at Shiplate Farm.

The warm and bright weather meant changes in air pressure and water temperature had changed the feeding patterns on the lakes. Some fish are getting ready to spawn and are not so eager to feed and the anglers had to work harder to tempt them into their swims.

John Hawkins on peg one, fished paste on pole to secure first place with a mixed bag of 75lb 4oz. Second place went to Steve Jackson on peg 3, 50lb 10oz and third place went to Ritchie Hawkins on peg 6, 49lb 8oz.

Top silvers went to Ron Stark (peg14), 15lb and Shane Caswell (peg 11), 12lb 4oz.
