First advantage to the District League

THE District League’s first game against the Wrington Vale League took place at Hornets with the District winning by 20 pins.

In the first set, captain Tim Urch got the District going with a good score of 55 with spares on the third and fifth hands. Not to be outdone, Dave Jones, also of the District, had spares on the fourth and last hands to finish with 57 as Wrington trailed by 32 after the first set.

The District took the second set by 13 pins with some steady skittling. The third set went to the Wrington by three pins with Kevin Buck top scoring with 57 and D Geal 50, but top man this year in the inter-league games, Martin Taylor, had a brilliant 67 with three spares.

In the last set, the Wrington team had a real go at the District with six spares between them. Leading the way was Keith Hann with 62 and just behind Jeff Wall with 61 and bringing up the rear for Wrington was captain Andy Harris with 52 for a set total of 175. In reply, Graham Wilcox scored 60 for the District in a total for the set 152.
