FOR retired chemist David Fife achieving his first-ever hole-in-one after playing the game for 45 years and during his year as Clevedon club captain must be the icing on the cake.

David was playing in the Seniors' Somerset Bowl match at the Isle of Wedmore against Farrington when, on the 171-yard ninth hole using a six iron, he saw his ball bounce just once and pop into the hole.

Overall Clevedon won the match 3 and 2 and now go forward to the semi-final where they will meet either Vivary Park or Frome at a neutral venue.
