Weston & District Football League president received an award for 50 years service at the league’s annual meeting.

At Weston & District Football League’s annual meeting, president, Alan Cumner was presented with a glass bowl in recognition of his 50 years service to the league.

The presentation made by Heather Drinkwater, then current chairperson for the league.

Alan started playing football for Bournville Rovers in 1966 and became secretary in 1968, attending league meetings as their representative until 1974.

Alan started refereeing and became the league’s referee secretary, standing down in 1981. He became vice-chairman and then chairman, a post he has held for 26 years.

Alan was made president in 2007 and still continues to be a fair and impartial representative for the league by attending various meetings and offering advice to anyone who ask.

His love for the game holds no bars and his experience and knowledge for the grassroots game is amazing.
