WESTON Football Club played host to a magnificent display by the band of the Devonshire and Dorset Regiment, who performed an excellent display of military music and precision marching, both prior to the match against Havant and Waterlooville and at half-time.The 40 army musicians gave a wonderful display of thrilling military music, to stir the surprisingly sparse crowd on the day. The band were accompanied by an additional fine display by the Territorial Army Recruiting and Static Display team, who launched over 200 balloons into the sky, as the band entered the arena.Weston Football Club chairman Paul Bliss said: "It was a very professional performance by the band and it was a shame that there were not more people at the stadium to enjoy it. The music and marching was fantastic. It was a great day."Former Weston secretary, Alan Cooper, who has now rejoined the club in a hospitality and events role, added: "The band, as expected, were superb and exceptionally well supported by the TA stand on the day. I will be looking at more events to be staged at the stadium, in the hope that we can entice the fans back.
