Weston Crusaders Under-14s reached the next round of the Lewin Cup after beating Burnham 5-2.
WESTON Crusaders Under-14s travelled to Burnham in the next round of the Lewin Cup.
Crusaders started the game with a goal within the first 10 minutes by Fraser Linnit, after being set up by Sweeting. Ten minutes later, Burnham managed to equalise with an excellent shot.
Linnit managed to score soon after, which was quickly followed by a goal from Walsh. Burnham scored again, giving Layden in goal no chance. Just before the break, Linnit was brought down in the area and netted the resultant penalty.
After the break, Linnit managed to score another goal and with some excellent football played by both teams, the final score finished 5-2.
MILTON Nomads Under-14s continued their winning run with a fine 3-1 away win against a determined Cheddar Valley side.
Cheddar dominated the opening exchanges and almost took the lead, but for some fantastic goalkeeping by Charlie Woodards.
Nomads took the lead when some great interchanges between Cai Williams, Ryan Pugh and Dean Chrisostomou created an easy tap-in for Matthew Frost.
Good play by Nomads’ midfield of Avasi Lucas, Drew Hodges and Sam Parkinson led to a great cross into the Cheddar penalty area where it was smashed home by George Harris-Aucott for his first goal of the season.
Nomads had to withstand some strong pressure from the Cheddar attack in the second half, but the defence of Tyler Pooley, Lewis Barber, Lewis Milkins and Jack Rickwood held firm and despite conceding one goal, kept the opposition at bay until the last few minutes when Nomads got back on top and were rewarded with a third goal scored by Rickwood following a corner.
Man of the match was Charlie Woodards.
