Ilminster came across a rampant Weston Mendip women’s team in this Somerset County Cup quarter-final.

Mendip scored early when a through ball found Tash Crew who shot from the edge of the box and goals continued to flow throughout the game.

Weston Mendip controlled the midfield, with Lucy Dinham, Amy Clark and Tash Crew supplying the forwards with a steady stream of opportunities.

The forwards took their chances and further goals came from Sherise Binns (3), Steph Goddard, Emily Harrington and Ellie Orritt, who scored twice, the second was the result of an excellent team passing move.

As the second half resumed, a flowing 10-pass move resulted in a cross from Harrington which Binns brought down and dispatched emphatically for her fourth goal.

On 61 minutes Lucy Dinham scored arguably the goal of the game a 25-yard rocket, followed two minutes later by an equally good headed goal by Steph Goddard from a corner kick.

Ellie Orritt finished the scoring on the 74 minute beating two players and firing the ball into the top corner from outside the box.

The Weston Mendip defence had very little to do, but late in the second half keeper Amanda Hubbard had one important save which preserved her clean sheet coming quickly out of goal to block a break away from the Ilminster centre forward.

Binns, Orritt, and Natasha Crew all scored hat-tricks, but the PD & CL Building Services girl of the game was Lucy Dinham for an excellent midfield performance.
