One of Weston Football Club’s most popular players in recent years has made a return to the first team and signed a contract yesterday (Sunday).
Jake Mawford, aged 24, left the club last season after Scott Bartlett replaced Ryan Northmore as first team head coach, but has still been involved with the club, coaching the Seagulls’ title-winning under-18s side.
Marc McGregor has since taken over after Bartlett’s shock departure and play-maker Mawford is his first signing.

Mawford said he is excited for the season ahead.
He added: “I am delighted to be back. I have been with the club on and off since I was 16, which I regret, but I hope I can stay here for the foreseeable future.
“I love the club, as well as the people who are involved with it. I love playing for my hometown, and I am looking forward to playing under Marc. He wants to play football, as I do. I can’t wait for the first game of the season.”
