Dayle Grubb picked up three trophies at Weston’s successful presentation evening.
WESTON-born Dayle Grubb picked up three trophies at Weston’s successful presentation evening.
He was named April player of the month, as well as picking up an award for winning most man of the match accolades and was named away supporters’ young player of the year.
Leading scorer Sahr Kabba was the supporters’ player of the season as well as being chosen as away supporters’ player of the season. The manager’s player of the season was Jamie Laird and fellow central defender Matt Villis was the players’ player.
Kane Ingram received a distinction award and there was a special merit award for the club physio Dave Callow. Six-year-old Tyler Morris, who travelled to all the Saturday away games as well as being at all the home games with his dad was named young supporter of the season.
Kit manager Barrie Neale was named clubman of the year and he also received a presentation from the players. There was a special award for Weston-born Martin Slocombe, who lost his way with a group of players coming back to the ground from a training session on Weston beach.
Bouquets were presented to the club chaplain Preb Heather Williams; club steward Ann Sheppard and Jackie Slocombe and Mary Fitzgerald, who have raised over £3,000 from the half-time draw at home matches.
Assistant manager John Haile presented signed shirts to groundsman Bob Flaskett and club secretary Richard Sloan, who was MC for the evening.
The newly-formed Under-14s’ Matt Trybull and Jack Hockey received awards as well as Jamie Huggins and Mark Walters of the Under-15s and Simon Ward and Ryan Brewer of the Under-16s.
The Under-18s’ awards went to Toby Yeates and Owen Kewley, while the successful Under-19s’ awards went to Robbie Maggs and Liam Dempsey.
