Hutton Under-15 girls returned to action with a local derby at Banwell.
HUTTON Under-15 girls returned to action after a seven week lay-off in the local derby at Banwell.
Both teams started brightly and the first opportunity fell to Hutton as Gabby Massey found space, but her rising shot cleared the crossbar.
Hutton continued to press forward with Jodie Filer and Lauryn Nigh pulling the strings and Tia Craig’s willingness to run at the Banwell defence forcing a string of corners.
Hutton’s rearguard of Georgia Ferdinando, Hannah Capes and Eva Ferdinando were starting to come under increasing pressure as Banwell started to have more possession and they took the lead when Lauren Filer in the Hutton goal was beaten from the edge of the penalty area.
This was quickly followed by a second from the penalty spot after Filer’s trip and the Hutton girls looked to be rattled, but they pulled a goal back on the stroke of half-time when Nigh released Robyn Perrett and her cross was dispatched into the net by Massey.
Banwell continued to press in the second half before Perrett fired home to bring the Hutton level at 2-2. Chances came and went for both teams before a free kick was fired into the Hutton net to restore Banwell’s lead.
Hutton again responded to the setback forcing a number of corners before a change of routine enabled Massey to neatly head home.
Hutton continued to attack and another corner proved to be Banwell’s downfall as it was turned in by a defender to give Hutton the lead for the first time in the game. Banwell continued to attack and the girls had to be on high alert with Anya Lawrence, Nicole Badman, Rachael Curtis and Meg Lewis working tirelessly to keep the hosts at bay.
With time now running out, Banwell left gaps at the back as they pressed for a deserved equaliser and this was exploited by Hannah Worley’s through ball which Perrett finish with style to give Hutton a two-goal cushion.
Worley repeated the move for Jodie Filer to curl home Hutton’s sixth with the aid of the post to seal the game and a flattering 6-3 win for Hutton.
Supporter’s player of the game was awarded to Robyn Perrett and McDonalds Weston player of the game was Hannah Capes.
