ANT Askins’s Uphill Castle made it nine points from the last nine available, courtesy of this impressive victory over Ashton and Backwell at Bridgwater Road, to cement third place in Division Two West of the Somerset County League.

After 20 minutes, a smart move down the right ended with Mitchel Childs producing a cross that Jordan Elliot slotted home.

Luke Bryant pulled off an excellent penalty save from Thomas Scott, while captain Joseph Boon made a great goal-line clearance to keep the home side ahead at the interval.

After the break, referee Justin Cox was on the top of his game and awarded a second penalty. This time the duties where handed to Samuel Skidmore and he drew the visitors level.

Following two substitutions, Uphill pressed with renewed intensity and were rewarded for their efforts when great work from Corry Thomas set up Cameron Milkins for a composed finish.

The man of the match award was kindly sponsored by Fusion Fish & Chip shop and Chinese Takeaway was awarded to Luke Bryant.

On Saturday, the Castle host Nailsea & Tickenham Reserves at Bridgwater Road (3pm). Admission is free.
