Hutton Under-15 girls defeated St Nicholas 5-2 with a hat-trick from Robyn Perrett.
HUTTON Under-15 girls travelled to a windy St Nicholas for their first game in over a month.
St Nicks’ direct play troubled Hutton’s back four of Nicole Badman, Hannah Capes, Eva Ferdinando and Anya Lawrence, but the hosts were still restricted to long-range efforts, easily fielded by keeper Lauren Filer.
The first opening fell to Robyn Perrett, whose run was found by Hannah Worley’s through ball, but the home custodian did well to push the shot wide.
Hutton strived hard to take control of the game, but wingers Danni Williams and Lauryn Nigh were frustrated by the hosts’ defiant defending, before the girls found themselves behind following a well-taken shot.
With Gabby Massey and Perrett linking up well and Georgia Ferdinando working hard in the midfield, it seemed as if an equaliser wouldn’t be far away, but on the stroke of half-time St Nicks extended their lead following a swift counter attack.
At the start of the second half, Saints nearly scored again but the shot drifted wide, but from here on in it was all Hutton as several shots fizzed past the home goal before Ferdinando’s free kick was parried into the path of Perrett to reduce the deficit.
Within minutes Hutton were level as Perrett struck again after Massey’s shot hit the post. The introduction of the hard working Rachael Curtis, Jodie Filer and Tia Craig drove Hutton forward in search of more goals, before Massey gave Hutton the lead as Curtis’ and Craig’s persistence created the opening..
St Nicks were now struggling to contain the girls attacking intent and Perrett completed her hat-trick with a fine shot before Nigh wrapped up the scoring by bundling the ball into the net for Hutton’s fifth of the day to complete a great second half performance.
McDonalds Weston player of the game was awarded to Robyn Perrett for an outstanding performance.
