Weston-super-Mare have signed 23-year-old Bristol Rovers defender Danny Greenslade on loan ahead of the Somerset Cup quarter final tonight (Tuesday) against Bath City.

Greenslade – who is a left back by trade – will go straight into the squad for tonight’s match and will remain at The Woodspring Stadium until the end of the season.

He has previously spent time on loan at Bath City, as well as National League North side Gloucester City.

Greenslade said there is no better way to start his spell than with a local derby.

He said: “I can’t wait to get started at tomorrow nights match, there’s no better way than with a local derby. It’s been a bit of a stop start season for me so far so I am really looking forward to getting a good run of games under my belt and showing what I am capable of.

“I have heard a lot of good things about Weston, especially from Jamie Lucas who was here a few seasons ago, they are a good club who try to play the right way.”
