Seagulls to entertain Bristol Rovers

WESTON Football Club have announced some entertaining pre-season friendlies, starting with a visit of Bristol Rovers to the Woodspring Stadium on Thursday, July 13, with a 7.45pm kick-off

WESTON Football Club have announced some entertaining pre-season friendlies, starting with a visit of Bristol Rovers to the Woodspring Stadium on Thursday, July 13, with a 7.45pm kick-off. On the following Tuesday, July 18, they entertain Taunton Town, of the Southern League Western Division, also with a 7.45pm kick-off.On July 22, AFC Telford, who have risen from the ashes of the former Nationwide Conference club, will provide the opposition at 3pm and it is understood that the Shropshire-based club will be bringing a large following for a social afternoon at the Stadium.Another league club, Swansea City, provide the opposition on July 25 (7.45pm) and on July 28, Weston entertain Bishops Cleeve, also at 7.45pm.On August 4, Weymouth, who won promotion to the Nationwide Conference, will be appearing at the Stadium at 7.45pm.Weston finish their programme on August 5, when they travel to Yate Town, also of the Southern League, with a 3pm kick-off. The club is pleased to announce that goalkeeper Ryan Northmore has signed a new contract with the club. Last season, Ryan, the former Torquay United stopper, picked up the directors, supporters and players' player awards and helped secure their place in the Conference South League with a string of first-class performances.Ryan also takes over as youth development officer and will be assisted during coaching sessions with the club's youth team by Marvin Brown.Club captain Matthew Rose, who has been courted by several other clubs, has agreed a new one-year deal with the club.
