A DETERMINED Sports Bar kept up the pressure on Division 1 leaders Hutton with a solid victory over a battling Kewstoke Lions side.

A DETERMINED Sports Bar kept up the pressure on Division 1 leaders Hutton with a solid victory over a battling Kewstoke Lions side.

A cross from Luke Page saw front man James Cleaves head back across the keeper to open the scoring and after Page hit a post, Cleaves doubled the score and sealed victory with his and Sports Bar’s second when his header from a Paul Marsh corner came back off the bar and he stabbed home the rebound.

Player-manager Hicks stood in in goal and turned in an excellent performance. He dealt comfortably with an attempted lob from Ben Westgarth.

The defence played well but the man of the match sponsored by new primary sponsorship partners Edge Barbers, went to midfielder Kelly Tyson.

KEWSTOKE increased their unbeaten Division 3 run with this convincing win over local rivals Worle.

Adam Brueford and a Josh Randall double saw Kewstoke were three up at the break after some good work by Curt Smith and Ryan Clark.

The back four were solid once more and the attacking football was pleasing on the eye. Randall completed his hat-trick in the second half to secure the victory. Worle replied with a consolation through an own goal, but could not get back into the game.

Man of the match went to Adam Brueford.

PLAYERS went into this top of the table clash looking to make it six wins in six.

Players found themselves 1-0 down after a mix up in defence. Stern words rejuvenated Players and they started to find their form.

Skinner made inroads on the left and Owen and Bush had a number of chances before Owen levelled after a fine pass from Joel Page.

After the break, there was better football from Players. Ashmore, Jones, Smith and Prior were solid at the back and Page gave the forward unit of Owen, Bush, Ballantine, Skinner and DeVanney something to build on.

Players got their noses in front on the hour mark when DeVanney crossed for Jim Owen to head home. St George levelled agan before the busy Kev Ballantine beat three players before squaring for Owen who slid in his hat-trick.

Owen turned provider for the fourth, Skinner releasing him before he crossed for Bush, who crashed home from 10 yards. Owen notched his fourth just before full-time.
