Team Mendip Under-13 Girls B team caused a massive shock to win the Somerset League Cup final.

It was a magnificent team performance against a Bishops Lydeard team who had won every game this season. Jennie Habbits scored two superb goals at the start of each half to give the team something to hang onto.

Each player stuck to the game plan and defended as a unit for the entire match. The wing backs ran all game, tracking back doing a thankless task for the team, while Maddy Jeffries nullified the talented captain from Lydeard with a brilliant man-to-man marking display.

Emily Mitchell worked alongside Jeffries covering every blade of grass, creating many opportunities for the forwards.

Bishops Lydeard pulled a goal back with 10 minutes remaining, but the defence were immense and held firm. Special mention to goalkeeper Erin Hale, who was alert all game and made crucial saves to keep Lydeard at bay.
