Clevedon Town 1 Beaconsfield 0TOWN took another step towards promotion to the Southern League Premier Division with their third successive 1-0 win.The only goal of the game came on 20 minutes when a pass from Steve Lester found Pete Sheppard who crossed from the left for Jack Pitcher to head in his 26th goal of the season.Clevedon looked threatening in attack and could have increased their lead just before the interval, but Pitcher's diving header was well saved by Beaconsfield keeper Julian Taylor. As the visitors got into the game, Chris Whitcombe cleared Daniel Willment's header off his line with Ray Johnson beaten and at the other end, Taylor did well to keep out a long-range effort by Leon Hopgood and later blocked a shot by Pitcher. The Clevedon goal had a let-off on 87 minutes when Allan Arthur's header hit the crossbar from Jason Bowler's cross.
