Clevedon Town 4 Thame United 1FORGET the score line. This match was all about the club winning the Southern League Division 1 West title and receiving the shield from the league's vice-chairman.The club have worked hard all season to make up for last year's play-off disappointment and, after clinching promotion at Bedworth and the title at Paulton, it was nice to be at home on the final day of the season to receive the shield. Phil Bater and his squad received the shield in the directors' box after the final whistle and every one of the squad deserved the applause they received. Clevedon took the lead on 49 seconds when Kye Holly was on hand to tap home Leon Hapgood's cross and they added a second on 14 minutes when Jack Pitcher headed Hapgood's cross past Paul Searl. With one of their few shots on goal, Thame pulled one back when Ben Connolly was left free to fire home following a long throw. For the remainder of the half, Thame held out and Searl pulled off a great save from Holly's 45th minute penalty after Pitcher was fouled. The second half continued in much the same vein with Ray Johnston a pure spectator. After more chances were spurned, Jacobs added a third with a far-post header. Jacobs saw a shot pushed on to a post by the keeper and numerous other chances went begging before Gavin Lane handled in the area and Scott Hendy scored from the penalty spot.
