Weston Mendip Ladies stayed focussed and came away with a draw away at Pen Mill.

Despite playing on a pitch with several other smaller pitches marked also in white lines, Weston Mendip stayed focussed and had the better of the early exchanges in this South West Women’s League match.

Midway through the first half, Tash Crew latched onto a loose ball on the edge of the Pen Mill penalty area and volleyed home and just before the break, Ellie Orritt followed in a Sherise Binns free kick to tap home after the keeper spilled the ball.

The second half again saw Mendip in control and the Pen Mill revival came against the run of play, an excellent passing move ended with Meg Gratton scoring from inside the box.

Weston Mendip had chances to increase their lead, but it was again Gratton who outpaced a tiring Mendip defence to equalise for the home team.

Weston Mendip still created chances, an Amy Clark header from close range just clearing the bar and a missed penalty left the game all square.

PD&CL Building Services girl of the game was Jess Chappell for an excellent defensive display.
