Weston Mendip came up against a strong Plymouth Argyle side in this South West Women’s League game.

The first half ebbed and flowed with both sides having chances, Mendip defended well, but on the half-hour a chance fell to Argyle’s forward Gabi Alphous who volleyed home from inside the box, giving keeper Amanda Hubbard no chance.

One down at the break, Weston Mendip played some good football with Beckie King linking play well. The next goal would be key and Nicola Champion managed to convert again just inside the box.

Mendip had chances including a good header by King well saved by the Plymouth keeper. The hosts still posed a threat but were caught on the break following a corner, Plymouth’s clearance created the break and three passes later put the game beyond Mendip’s reach.

Weston Mendip travel to Devon next Sunday to play top of the league Plympton.

The PD & CL Building Services girl of the game was Tash Crew who worked tirelessly.
