FORMER football league starlet Leon Jeanne has signed non-contract terms at the Woodspring Stadium.

Midfielder Jeanne, aged 28, has impressed in pre-season and looked accomplished on the ball in the friendly matches against Cheltenham Town and Exeter City.

As a youngster he was tipped for stardom and was called into the Wales under-21 squad.

However, the talented dribbler was released due to disciplinary problems by both Queens Park Rangers, where he came through the youth ranks, and his hometown club Cardiff City.

The Bluebirds let him go in 2002 after he supplied a sample for a drugs test that was found not to be urine.

Since then, he has been plying his trade in the Welsh premier and local leagues in Cardiff.

He was arrested earlier this month on suspicion of money laundering after a raid on his home in the Welsh capital.

But Gurney says the troubled midfielder has pledged to clean up his act and concentrate on football.

He said: "It looks like Leon was arrested by mistake and the important thing is whether he's good for the club in football terms.

"We will see how he progresses. He needs to get a lot fitter, but he has bags of talent and he's promised to concentrate on football and get on with his life.
