Weston Tennis Club are holding an open day to coincide with Wimbledon.

WESTON Tennis Club is having a fun-filled open day on June 26 from 11am-2pm to coincide with Wimbledon fortnight.

The open day and the club caters for all ages and all standards and everyone is invited to come along and play for free or just look at the facilities.

The club is backed by the LTA with facilities comprising of five floodlit courts and a clubhouse that is close to the train station in Neva Road.

Since the recent £100,000 investment in the playing facilities, the club has recruited top local coach Allen to extend the wide range of coaching courses. This has been helped with the aid of sponsorship from Mercedes Benz of
Weston for the junior section.

In addition to the popular group and individual coaching for adult and juniors (aged five to 15) that go on throughout the year, the club will be holding a series of summer holiday coaching courses.

With two ladies’ teams and five men’s team, including the two teams promoted to North Somerset League Division 2 last year, the club has a thriving competitive element and is always looking for additional league players.

The club also welcome complete beginners or those who have not played for a while.

Club chairman Bob Wilson told the Mercury: “The response to the last open day was terrific and we are hoping to build on that during Wimbledon fortnight. We are striving to build tennis up from the grass roots in the Weston area.

Anyone interested should just come along on June 26 anytime between 11am-2pm or for information on coaching and membership, please call Bob Wilson on 628070 or check out more information on the club at www.westontennisclub.co.uk
