New initiatives launched at Winscombe Tennis Club.
TWO new initiatives have been launched by Winscombe Tennis Club to help potential new members beat the present financial squeeze.
Adults interested in playing and joining but not sure whether they want to pay a full subscription immediately are being offered a month’s free trial membership.
And staff from local businesses can have a 10 per cent discount on their first year sub. A club spokesman said: “At a time when money is tight we thought we would take the lead to encourage more people to take up our sport and get some healthy exercise.”
Club play and coaching for juniors together with ‘rusty racket’ sessions for seniors and North Somerset League matches mean the six courts are in almost constant use both daytime and evenings during the week and at weekends. Regular tennis and food sessions are held every month together with tournaments and social events.
