WESTON’S home Blue Square South game against Woking was cancelled because part of the Woodspring Stadium was frozen.

A preliminary inspection of the playing surface took place on Friday evening and the conditions were described as doubtful and it was agreed another inspection should be held early on Saturday morning. This again proved doubtful and the Woking party informed.

However, they decided to make the 194-mile trip. A later morning inspection again proved inconclusive and it was agreed that a final decision on the fitness of the ground be left to the match referee.

The official, Mr Stephen Plane from Pershore and his two assistants made a detailed inspection and decided to call the game off on grounds of healthy and safety, despite both managers wanting the game to go ahead. No new date for the fixture has been agreed between the sides.
