FIVE gymnasts from Weston fly off to Las Vegas this weekend to represent Great Britain at the American National Championships.
Matt Saunders, Abi Butterfield and Trina Rose are returning to the scene of previous triumphs as all have brought back medals from previous American championships. Oliva Owen and Flora Lacy are flying to America for the first time and hoping to repeat the success of other Weston gymnasts.
The gymnasts have 10 days in Las Vegas, the first of which are used to acclimatise to the heat and train alongside the best in the world before their competition.
They are part of a squad of 30 aerobic gymnasts from all over the country who have been selected to attend this prestigious event
With the majority of countries attending, including the gymnastic giants of China and Korea, all the Great Britain gymnasts will have to be in top form and showcase all their skills.
The five gymnasts from Weston have been trained at the Potteries by national coach Debbie Saunders, who will be flying out with them, alongside Nigel Saunders who is delighted to be judging at the event, and Kat Saunders who will help ensure the squad compete at their very best
