Hornets Under-13 girls won both their games against two sides from Minehead.

HORNETTES Under-13 girls travelled to Exeter to play in a round robin against Minehead A and Minehead B.

The first game saw Hornettes playing a supportive game of rugby and were able to break through to score the first try, but Minehead came back strongly to equalise.

Hornettes continued to play attacking rugby and when in defence, they were able to rip the ball and score. Minehead didn’t give up and continued to make the Hornettes work hard to defend their line and after much pressure were able to score.

Towards the end of the game, Hornettes we able to run in several more tries with the final score being 12-6.

In the second game, both teams were evenly matched and both teams left gaps in their line from which both attacked and scored. Hornettes came back hard and with some powerful runs from Georgia White and Katie Reynolds and scored again.

A few minutes before the final whistle, with the scores level, some brilliant rucking from the Hornettes allowed them to turn the ball over and Ruby Richardson found a gap in the defence to score the winning try.

Try scorers: Lottie Dadds, Georgia White, Ruby Richardson, Charmaine Bowen, Meg Snook and Katie Reynolds. Player of the day was Georgia White.
