Mendip Spring seniors’ captain Andy Ashfold led 43 members into the new winter programme of competitions.

Led by new Mendip Spring seniors’ captain Andy Ashford, 43 members competed in the first Stableford competition of their winter programme.

As well as regular Monday competitions, a winter eclectic over six cards and a pairs competition are also well underway.

The first Stableford competition was won by Tony Scott with 40 points with Geoffrey Turner in second place with 37. In third place on countback was Glynn Morgan, also with 37.

The Brinsea Course remains in excellent condition with no sign of winter tees yet. As well as routine maintenance, improvement work on the course continues apace with a new teeing ground being constructed on the 13th hole and ground improvements being made on the eighth hole. Clubhouse improvements are also planned to commence in the near future.
