Richard finishes with best score of the day at Burnham

Former Burnham & Berrow Golf Club captain Richard Turner produced the best nett score of the day in the July medal.

Former club captain Richard Turner produced the best nett score of the day to win Division 2 of the July medal at Burnham and Berrow Golf Club.

His score of 66 gave him five-shot margin over Frank Matthews in second place with a 71 and Gordon Mitchell in third with 72.

Despite finishing with a bogey at the last, two handicapper Alex Winn took the honours in Division 1 with a 70, but only after a countback over Jonny Daniel, who also finished with a 70.

Third and fourth places went to Dave Griffin and Andy Fisher respectively, who both finished a shot behind with 71.

Jess Haines won her second club junior competition of the season winning the Summer Cup on a less than summery day. Playing off 26 handicap, 11-year-old Jess scored her best ever gross score of 92 for a nett 66 to win by four shots from another up and coming 11-year-old, Hugh Adams, who is currently playing off 17 handicap, but played the front nine in a three over par gross score of 39 shots.

Ten-year-olds Jacob Radford and Harry Brafield tied at the top of the leaderboard on the Channel course, both scoring 30 points on a rainy afternoon in the junior nine-hole competition, with Jacob winning on a countback

Janice Truscott won the Channel Stableford with 37 points after a countback over Paul Lavis.
