ON Monday and Friday evenings at St Andrew's School, there is an enthusiastic and committed squad of 12 Congresbury Gym Club members who train incredibly hard in the school hall.Recently they have competed in several competitions and done the club proud with some fantastic performances and amazing results.Gina and Chloe have been the busiest of the girls as they gave an outstanding performance at Grade 3 in an interclub competition at Yate, against clubs from all over Great Britain and came a stunning second place, gaining silver medals.They then upped their difficulty to compete in an international competition with gymnasts from Great Britain, Holland, Germany, Switzerland and Russia.They performed with great elegance and really did the club proud against such difficult competition and only just missed out on a medal placing.Finally, they competed in last weekend's South West preliminaries and after more hard work and committed performances, came third, gaining bronze medals. Jasmine and Esther competed as a Grade 1 women's pair in an interclub friendly in Yate against clubs from all over Great Britain and the following fortnight represented the club in the South West Preliminary competition and gave a superb routine to come 19th out of 33 pairs.Lauren and Lucy also competed in the South West Preliminaries as a Grade 1 pair and after really getting the audience going with their Charleston routine, came a fantastic ninth out of 33.Hannah and Imogen performed a beautiful routing again in the South West Preliminaries, at their new level, Grade 2 and after just a few months' training really showed what they are made of with a confident and impressive routine.
