WESTON boss Andy Gurney has denied reports defender Craig Rand could leave the Woodspring Stadium.

Following Saturday's win the talismanic centre-half was asked whether he was flattered by reported interest in him from Peterborough United and Darlington.

He told the club's official website: "It is always nice to hear that teams are interested in me but I am just concentrating on playing for Weston at the minute and I am getting on a bit now, pushing 27 but if I had a chance to go full time it would be great.

"I am not thinking about that, I am just thinking about playing well for Weston and moving on to better things with Weston, hopefully next season and beyond."

But Gurney refuted the claim there was interest in the player and told the Mercury he knew nothing about interest from other clubs.

He said: "I don't know of any interest in Craig and don't know where it has come from.
