Gymnasts finish the season on the podium at Hungarian Open

Weston Aerobic Gymnastics Club finished a year of competitions at the Hungarian Open, with members gaining some excellent results.

Weston Aerobic Gymnastics finished a stellar year of competitions at the Hungarian Open last weekend.

The three-day international saw all the gymnasts representing Weston gain top scores and final placings.

In the age 10-11 category, reigning British champion Jasmine Dight won the silver medal against more than 40 other gymnasts. Jasmine then joined her trio teammates Seren Jones and Katie Ferris to win another silver medal against 17 other trios.

In the 12-14 age group, Lola Lawrence continued to build her international reputation with a flawless performance in both qualifications and finals to beat off tough competition and gain a silver medal with the highest-ever score for a British gymnast of her age.

Lola repeated the success and another highest score for an trio of that age with Molly Brown and Bella Styles.

The club’s success was continued by the male individual Lewis Harvey adding a bronze to his growing medal collection.

Many of the international judges commented on the growing talent of the Weston athletes.

The gymnasts will spend the winter working on new skills and new routines ready for 2018.
