TWENTY-three gymnasts from Splitz Gymnastics Club competed in the South West Schools Acrobatics Championships at Sherborne.

TWENTY-three gymnasts from Splitz Gymnastics Club competed in the South West Schools Acrobatics Championships at Sherborne.

The club came home with a handful of medals -Churchill School – Under-13 pairs, Lydia Hawkings and Rosie Bunker, bronze; Over-13 pairs, Emily Hawkings and Libby Bunker, bronze.

Beckett School - Summer Roger, Under-11 tumbling, silver. Churchill School - Libby Bunker, Under-13 tumbling, silver; Herons Moor School - Lennon Coles, Under-11 tumbling, gold.

Highlights of the day were Summer Rogers and Lennon Coles, who will be representing their schools in the national finals in May at Fenton Manor.

Also Charlotte Patch and Eleisha Hartill just missed out on a bronze medal with a delightful routine to gain fourth place.

Gymnasts also competing were - Wyvern School, Leanne Chubb, Georgia Sheepwash; Broadoak School, Rosie Hodder, Emily Fairchild, Rea Cooper; Priory School, Katie Mitchell; Worle, Eleanor Robertson; Uphill, Tia Steele; St Marks, Niamh Rickards; Oldmixon, Kayleigh Benham, Kayleigh Down; Churchill, Olivia Harvey, Beth Macleod; St Martins, Laura Robertson.

Many thanks go to the support from parents on a long day, and Louise Walker, Serena Robertson, qualified judge.

The club’s next competition is the NDP acro and tumbling in two weeks at Taunton.
