THIS was another hard fought victory against a determined side who never gave up.
Clevedon took an early lead with a penalty by Steve Johnson. Chosen Hill had the better of the opening exchanges, but the Clevedon defence held firm.
Johnson increased their lead with a second penalty. The visitors spoiled very well which forced Clevedon to kick away possession. Owen Biggins made a break from far out, but with the line at his mercy, dropped the ball. Just before half time, Dave Rawle went over for a try from a five metre scrum to give Clevedon a 11-0 lead at the break.
Clevedon had more possession in the second half, but over complicated things and found it hard to break down the visitors' resolute defence.
A fly kick through saw Simon Johns pounce to score a try. Then a slick handling movement saw Johns score his second try. Chosen Hill never gave up and a try scoring pass was intercepted by Johns who ran the length of the field to complete his hat-trick, Johnson converting.
The Clevedon forwards again played well, and the backs played well defensively to keep a clean sheet.
Next Saturday, Clevedon are away to Yatton, 2.30pm kick-off.
