BBH 8

Weston Spartans 5

BBH were at home to Weston Spartans in the first round of the cup at the Burnham Ground.

With BBH latest form and run of results it was a sure thing they would progress to the next round. However, Spartans were determined to make it as hard as possible right from the word go.

Both teams were going in hard for challenges, each showing their determination for a result. At half time BBH led 5-2 which meant both teams still had everything to play for in the second half.

Spartans came out with confidence and had most of the possession to make a great start, but BBH managed to fend off the attacks and showed quick counters to get past the Spartans.

Man of the match was awarded to Robert Gray (Ginge) of the Spartans for his confidence and superb goal.

Locomotive Worle 6

White Hart 1

AFTER four straight defeats, Loco were looking to use this first round cup game to get back to winning ways.

After going close from two early corners, it seemed only a matter of time before the opening goal would come.

White Hart had other ideas and began to play some good football, testing the Loco keeper a couple of times. Loco finally opened the scoring, when Owen finished at the near post from a corner, Hart's keeper unable to keep the shot out.

More Loco pressure followed and a goal from Vaughan had the score at 2-0 at half time. Wanting to put the game out of reach Loco stepped up a gear from the restart and after 10 minutes scored two quick goals courtesy of Owen and Waterhouse to leave Hart with an uphill struggle to get back in the game.

A penalty from Fraser and a superb volley from Vaughan put the game beyond doubt. Loco then relaxed for the final 10 minutes and allowed Hart a consolation goal from the spot. Loco man of the match went to Belbin.
